How to detect a Genuine Shaman.

My definition of what makes a genuine Shaman has been a subject of some controversy, even argument over the years. In the Shaman awakening essay on kundalini-teacher.com that I can detect the unique energy signature of a genuine shaman, and WOW am I ever tired of people asking me about it!

The people who ask me "am I a shaman?" are not real shamans, and they tend to be so attached to the title they want to argue with me about it. I find genuine shamans in the most desperate people who contact me for help, the ones who have tried everything and seen other healers who could not do anything for them. As one of the shamans I have been mentoring put it, "genuine shamans are in so deep shit they don't care about titles, they just want help."

Recently I worked out a way to share what I see, the distinct energy signature of a genuine shaman is unmistakable if you know what to look for, and anybody who is a little bit intuitive can learn to detect a genuine shaman from a fake. This is important because genuine shamans get some perceptions and abilities that are unique.

The distinctive energy, is that of the Death gate... Shamans live with one foot in both worlds and part of that is quite literal, having a portal to the underworld right inside us. It is situated directly under the heart chakra, (it is a scary manifestation of unconditional love) and where the heart is warm, the energy of the death gate is cold fire

The specific vibration is identical to that of the poisonous and hallucinogenic, amanita muscaria "death cap" mushroom. Getting to know the vibe via the shroom is a whole lot easier and safer than trying to look too close at a Shaman's death gate. Getting to know the shroom first, is the key to learning to tell if someone is a shaman.

Tune in on the mushrooms, feel their peculiar death and madness vibe, their faerie otherworldliness, the creepy chill of a cold hand of death on the back of your neck... the blind terror of a deer fleeing a forest fire. Red is a colour warning of poison and danger in nature, coral snakes, poison insects and fatal berries, the colour of bloody violent death.

The death gate carries the same warning, vibration of fear, keep away sign. It is protective, fools cannot rush in if they are too busy rushing for the toilet, having shit their pants with fear.

The energy of it is extremely dangerous to the psyche for anyone not trained to deal with it from their earliest memories. Look for it in yourself first, just beneath the heart chakra... look for it in friends and people you know. If you have it though, you do not need to look. You already know it is there, just maybe did not have a word for it.

Before you turn your attention to look for the death gate in me, get protective 3rd eye-wear. Talk to your guidance and ask for your perceptions to be well filtered for your mental safety, and take a sidelong glance from a great distance. I am not joking, fools rush in and do not be one.

The vibration of the death gate is as distinctive as the smell of death, get to know it in the shrooms, you can recognize it from the smallest traces and do not want more. Nobody is selling 'rotting flesh scent' room freshener, not even on Halloween. (It does not actually smell like death, thankfully... but it has the same horror nausea effect on the gut and deep survival instincts.)

Do not try to look directly into this portal, or take the energy of it. If you ignore this warning and try, I will not be responsible for the condition of your mind three days later when you are flipping out with panic, nightmares and trying to hold onto your sanity with both hands. I am not joking.

On the rare occasions I allow someone to have a tiny sample of this energy for educational purposes, I take it all back from them scrupulously within a minute, for which they thank me very gratefully. Less than a minute is plenty of time to feel the cold chill of it beginning to spread inside them, and the unreasoning panic that begins to rise. You do not need to know how that feels, and via the web I will not be there to take it back from you, if you try.. so, don't.

The death gate is nothing negative of itself, it uses your own hidden fears against you, to drive you running back to appreciation of life. All things must pass through it one day and it simply Is. Death is a part of nature, a reflection of life and it is part of the nature of life to fear and resist death. It functions as a karmic mirror on super steroids, any trace of fear in you is thrown back with multiplied force. The mirror will find all the deepest shadows to reflect, all the things you never wanted to know, about yourself or think of again, and it does not let go. Efforts to clear the energy with other healing methods just show their shadow side, more resistance and fear which makes the chill grow, not fade.

I am giving some sincere warnings, but also some reassurance. I have successfully taught shaman detection to a few people, and it is safe to do it you do respect that it is a powerful energy and do not look too close... and from a tiny trace, you will not want a closer inspection.

I have often said, if you are not a shaman, be grateful. Kind of a nice little side bonus of teaching shaman detection, is that some folks finally understand what I mean by it. What surprises them afterwards is to learn that a shaman has absolutely no immunity to their own death gate.

They ask me, "how can you live with that?" The answer is discipline that starts so young, before the ego has barely taken root, the consciousness becomes splintered, the shadow aspect becomes the Portal Guardian. We learn to face it with perfect trust and unconditional love, as an act of desperation after being utterly destroyed by it, over and over and over if we have a trace of fear, to awaken in terror afraid to move a muscle with the nightmare still continuing.

After that attainment it gets worse. You integrate the shadow monster and now you are that violent death to any who show a trace of fear, with no voice to warn them and no way to stop it happening. I know a very few times I was able to not be horrified at the destruction and broke through to the next level but I had no memory of what it was, only a lingering sense of peace and beauty, that did not win over so many tormented failures.

A shaman cannot even safely gaze into their own death gate, until after "graduation," Only after spending years or months walking the road of hell gaining the keys to all the gates, learning to be tour guide of the underworld to lead people out.
